If you are caring for an aging loved one with Alzheimer's or a disability, the Family Caregiver Program may provide you with a free break — and you can request Heaven's Angel as your provider.
Completely free for qualifying families
- Primary caregiver for someone 60 or older
- Loved one has Alzheimer's or related condition
- Grandparent raising a child under 18
- Located in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, or Cherokee County
What Is the Family Caregiver Program?
The Appalachian Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is a state-funded organization serving the six-county Upstate SC region — Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg. Their Family Caregiver Program supports the thousands of families quietly caring for aging loved ones every single day.
Through this program, qualifying primary caregivers receive free in-home respite care — giving them time to rest and take care of their own wellbeing while a trained caregiver tends to their loved one at home.
Heaven's Angel Homecare Agency LLC is one of the approved providers. When your application is approved, you can request us as your caregiver by name. We also accept program vouchers directly — so you do not have to navigate the paperwork alone.

Do You Qualify?
The Family Caregiver Program supports primary caregivers across Upstate SC. Here are the three qualifying situations:
Caring for a Senior 60 or Older
You are the primary caregiver for a frail or disabled individual who is 60 years of age or older — including a parent, spouse, or other family member.
Caring for Someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia
Your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia condition — regardless of their age. This is one of the most supported categories in the program.
Grandparent Raising a Grandchild
You are a senior 55 or older raising a grandchild or relative child under the age of 18. The program provides meaningful relief and support for this demanding role.

How to Get Started — Step by Step
The process is simple. Most families are approved and receiving care within a few weeks of applying.

Complete the Application
An AAA assessor may conduct a free in-home visit to confirm eligibility and identify the right level of support for your family.
Request Heaven's Angel
Once approved, ask for Heaven's Angel Homecare Agency LLC as your preferred respite care provider by name.

Your caregiver arrives and provides professional, compassionate care — while you take the break you deserve.
